People Are Like Suns

Last month I saw the reformed Crowded House’s first show in Australia. Well, while scanning YouTube today, I was really pleased to see this:

This rousing rendition was a world away to when Neil Finn performed it solo in dedication to Paul Hester at the ARIAs, just months after his death:

Neil Finn is by far my favourite songwriter, but the thing about his songs are that no matter how good they sound on the album, the experience is nothing compared to seeing them performed live. Take the Crowded House classic, Fall At Your Feet, performed so very simply with only an acoustic guitar and piano, but no less enchanting.

But I really think it’s all in the genes because great things happen whenever the brothers Finn play live:

I love, love playing Neil’s songs myself, and can do a decent rendition of quite a few songs, but as far as covers go, these guys (two “headless” blokes from Holland) are fantastic:

Perhaps Crowded House should bring them on tour?
