After class I headed back to the city and had my lunch at Town Hall. Lots of people are enjoying the deck chairs that the council has set up in various places.
The sandstone masonry is still beautiful to me.
Nowadays much of Sydney’s architecture isn’t overly inspiring.
I’m in love with film. I used Fuji Superia ISO 400 stock and shot with my father’s 1970’s Olympus OM-2.
The colours are so different to digital. I didn’t realise how much I missed seeing the world in this way.
It’s nice to sometimes appreciate scenes from the everyday. These were taken on a weekday, once again in Hurstville main street.

The last two I took on film. After 10 years of photographing on digital, the look of film photographs is refreshing.

The main street was closed off to traffic and stands set up. There were crowds aplenty – and they were willing to queue for a freebie!

More photos from my phone, this time at home. The phone might be struggling in the low light, but the graininess makes the shot interesting.
It might be a mess on my table, but it does tell a story.
It was inevitable that the week after studying the rules of composition we were invited to break them. Not only that, we were also encouraged to take photos with other devices other than our digital SLR in the quest to take photos that were a bit more out of the ordinary.
Well, the easiest and most commonly used photo-taking device these days is the camera in our phones. It’s certainly the most inconspicuous, especially when out and about. I snuck in this shot at a Sydney CBD food court. Those guys look positively ghostly.

Forget about the rules of composition, I just want to enjoy more of Oatley Park.
