The cake befits the simplicity of the reception. It was actually a lovely chocolate mud cake.
Surprisingly, it was light and very more-ish, unlike a lot of mud cakes these days which can really be on the heavy side.

Beach Wedding – Food
The spread for this wedding was much more casual that the last wedding I went to. We shared platters of seafood and antipasti for entree and fruit, cheese and mini tarts for dessert. In the middle was a choice of chicken, steak or fish mains. I chose the fish, which didn’t turn out to be a good idea. Not enough sauce, although I had no complaints about the portion size.
Beachside Wedding – Bouquet
Wedding bouquets are usually a standard issue, but I thought this one was rather old fashioned, but nevertheless stunning.
Coogee Beach
A lovely Saturday afternoon at Coogee Beach. Absolutely perfect weather, which is just as well, because 24 hours later it was raining cats and dogs.
A lovely day in the bush
Spent a lovely day walking in Heathcote National Park. It’s somewhere I’ve never been before, even though it is literally across the road from its bigger and more well-known sister, Royal National Park. So it’s not surprising that the landscape is similar – dry eucalypt forests, sandstone gorges and creeks – but it feels much more off the beaten path.
It was lovely to see the profusion of spring wildflowers, which are surprisingly colourful.
And we found a beautiful spot in Kingfisher Pool. You can even camp nearby.

Ah, the trials of online dating… with the very, very unlikely combo of Catherine Tate and James Bond himself, Daniel Craig.
Double Choc Chip Dessert
My mate and I baked double choc chip cookies one weekend. I had one left and decided to create a little dessert with ice cream and strawberries.
Mamma Mia – like you’ve never seen it before
I quite liked the film Mamma Mia. It was a whole load of fun if you left your brain at the door. But I was very aware of its inadequacies, and this spoof really takes the cake.

All good things must come to an end, and soon it was time to get back on the ferry to the mainland. But before we left we were graced with a beautiful sunset, and a view that is one of the most revered in Japan.
