It’s not only humans that love the sun. Princess Beagle has a knack of finding the sunniest corner of any space and plonking herself down to sunbathe until she is hot, hot, hot. Since her tongue isn’t hanging out just yet in this photo, we can safely assume that she’s not heading for the shade for some time yet.

Canine Interlude – Being Human
It’s bedtime, and the beagle is in a huff. You see, she thinks she’s human, and so expects to be treated like one. When her ‘parents’ disappeared all day, she was so very disappointed.
“You’ve ignored me all today.”
“You haven’t fed me enough.”
“You haven’t walked me enough.”
“I’m so unloved.”
If she knew her problems were miniscule compared to a human’s, perhaps she won’t be so eager to be one?

Long Reef – Blue-Ringed Octopus
There is a wealth of marine life to be had. Most are to be found hiding underneath rocks and in the multitude of pools. Many are friendly, but always be careful, because some aren’t when roused.
This little blue-ringed octopus was in its hiding hole but the blue-ringed tentacles immediately blazed when roused. Dangerous, but beautiful all the same.
Not Happy, Jan
The beagle slumped herself on the sofa. She was not amused. It was hot, humid, rainy; meaning no walks along the beach, and no chasing after birds and flies in the garden. But worst of all was the severe lack of attention paid to her that endless afternoon. One can almost hear her huff, “Nobody loves me, everybody hates me…”

Kaikoura – Whaling Around
Kaikoura is famous for its abundant marine life, especially the whales that live in the area all year round. Unfortunately, the proved to be quite elusive when I visited. There were plenty of dusky dolphins though.
However, during the 3 hour cruise we managed to only spot one whale. I later found out that they ran into 22 whales the day after. Well, dems de breaks.

The precipice
I eventually ended up where I was a couple of months ago, back at the top of Wentworth Falls.
This time I wanted to see if I could get an alternative view, so I went around to Rocket Point Lookout, a little round walk above the top of the falls.
It gave not only a bird’s eye view of the falls but of the surrounding cliff tops. I like the white trunks of the gums. It reminds me a bit of the ghost gums in the Territory.
