Turon River – Part 3
The river was running clear – and very cold.
There are specks of gold to be found in the river, BB told me. Most probably in places where the river bends.
This was gold rush country after all – in the 1850’s. But the place circa 2011 was so serene that it’s hard to imagine it being filled with hundreds of sweaty, dirty, noisy prospectors.
We brought a gold pan but unfortunately didn’t get the time to use it. Another ‘next time’.
Turon River – Part 2
Upstream, the river had opened out into a waterhole. There was a rope swing that told me that this was a well-loved spot. Being late April, it was far too cold to go for a dip. Maybe next time.
Turon River – Part 1
We have recently returned from a few days by the Turon River. We stayed at Turon Gates, a large property that encompasses a large tract of the Turon River and its surrounds.
This was my first time in the area, and I must say that I was impressed by the natural beauty of the place.
Who wouldn’t like to laze awhile but that river bank?
Fascinated
Half way along the beach, the beagle (gasp) paused, and looked up. What was she so fascinated by?
A flying kite! Well, I suppose it doesn’t look like any bird she’s ever seen.

Where would an eastern Australian coastal scene without a strand of Norfolk pines? They are certainly distinctive.
I Am Sailing
Not a bad afternoon to sail into the sunset.
Beach Fishing
On such a fine day the fisher-people were out in force along the beach. With the glowing autumn afternoon light on Lion Island, it was another lovely scene to end the day.
Canine Interlude
We haven’t seen too much of the sun in recent weeks, so the beagle was happy to take advantage of the most meagre patch of sun to work on her tan.
Hot Cross Buns
It’s been awhile since I posted. I hope that everyone has had a peaceful Easter, and if you have been holidaying, a relaxing time. I have a lot of posts to catch up on, of course. My first offering is the batch of hot cross buns that I made (with the help of the breadmaker) on the Easter weekend. It was a pretty good first attempt, if I say so myself, and the homemade buns were divine.
