Japan Revisited – Miyajima

It’s hard to believe that’s it’s been 3 years since I made my trip to Japan. The experience is still quite vivid, even if my knowledge of the language has faded.

So time to delve into my archive of photos. This time I want to revisit Miyajima, a little island just a few kilometres from the city of Hiroshima. It’s a lush island, famous for its temples. We board the ferry for the short trip across, and our first glimpse of the island is stunning.

Wedding Banquet – Mains

Of course, it’s inevitable that I post photos of the food.

Menu

Let’s just forget about the entrees because I forgot to take photos of them. For the record, I had the duck, which was done Peking style and nicely cooked.

But it’s the mains that I was hanging out for.

Chicken Ballontine

As the menu states, this is Chicken Ballontine with Apple, Fennel, Celery, Shallot and Green Olive Salsa. I didn’t have it but my neighbour commented that it was cooked nicely, and the salsa was especially good.

This is what I had.

Steamed Barramundi

Barramundi fillet, potato dauphine, broad bean and crab bisque. The fish was cooked to perfection. The potato dauphine was kind of like a posh pomme noisette to me, but I loved the flavour of the bisque. Delicious.

Fanfic Update

Finished posting my first Spooks stories. Glad that it got such a good reaction. Posting a first story in a new universe is a nerve-wrecking thing – you never know if you’re true to the characters and their environment. Looks like I did fine here though, and as a consequence I’ve got 3 further stories planned in the Spooks universe.

Spooks:
Reunion (completed)

Jane Eyre:
Some Enchanted Evening (still uploading)

Adventures on life's merry-go-round
