The post office is reminiscent of a Grecian temple! Shows the old pastoralists definitely made a few bob.

Mudgee – Part 3
Mudgee – Part 2
From the outset, Mudgee felt like a large town, particularly compared with the likes of Rylstone. There were more buildings, more people, more traffic… And of course, more churches.
The Catholic church sat on the main roundabout. It’s one of the oldest buildings in Mudgee, built in 1857.
You can see from the parked cars in the distance that this was a busy place, even on a weekday. I like the historic clock in the middle.
The Anglican church stood on the opposite side of the roundabout to the Catholic Church, and is about 15 years older. Didn’t get to look inside, but the stained glass windows seemed nice.
Mudgee – Part 1
Our last stop on the trip was Mudgee. This town was primarily agricultural, but like other country towns, this one has transformed itself into a wine centre in the last 15 years.
We visited Thistle Hill winery, which makes a good drop.

Along the River – Part 3
A bit of history for you. The Chinese were pretty prominent in the Turon area during the gold rush. They built a water run that was a couple of kilometres long to process the gold. What is left is the remnant of that stone wall, built by hand.
Pretty impressive, considering that they used a spoonful of water as a level. Notice that if they couldn’t shift a boulder, they just built over it!
