A really quick field beanie, requested by Hubby. He’s gonna need it this winter when he heads out back!

Autumn Produce
All that rain was good for one thing – we have some produce to pick from our small vegie patch. There aren’t many radishes, but they were sizeable and peppery. They went into a great coleslaw.
And we have our first orange and lemon for the season. The orange is for Hubby to take to work, the lemon went into a very lovely lemon cake.
Notice that the orange, when compared to a store-bought one, is much larger. It’s much more juicier too.
Autumn Cardigan
To satisfy my love of vintage-y clothes at the moment, I’ve knitted a cropped cardigan.
It has lovely lace details and has been knitted up in 10 ply cotton, warm enough for an autumn’s day.
Good thing was it was relatively quick to knit up – a mere 5 weeks! And it fits very nicely.
A walk around my ‘hood – Part 1
I was quite inspired by Joan’s posts around her home in the Blue Mountains, particularly how it’s changed in the last few years by the extensive roadworks. It reminds me that the area around my home in the Sydney suburb of Kingsgrove is quickly changing too, and that it’s a good time to document it before it changes completely. I also thought that it might be good to capture all this on film instead of digital, since the suburb is full of mid 20th century architecture.
Kingsgrove is a suburb in the south of Sydney that sprang up in the early days of World War II. During the war, they small (by 21st century standards) but solid homes, making use of what was available. Around here, it was from brick since the entire suburb is on clay and there were brick and pottery works abound. Our house is a prime example of that.
Walking down the surrounding streets, you could see that there are many homes of my vintage.
But changes are afoot.

Knitting in Autumn
Along with Mum’s leg warmers, I had been knitting this shrug at the same time as an alternative. It turned out pretty well and goes with my 50’s style dresses.
In preparation for winter, I’ve knitted a few things.
A double strand beanie to keep out the cold.
And for those extra cold days, a headband to wear under my beanie.
